“Betty’s Haven” is a 14-bed facility which houses women and children. This emergency shelter provides victims of abuse and domestic violence shelter for 30-60 days. Betty's Haven is more than the typical women's shelter. The Women are also provided with food, clothing, case management, counseling, advocacy, health care, job search, child care, transportation, and education about abuse and domestic violence.
Located in east Harris County, Texas, Betty’s Haven is the only shelter for women and children in the North Channel area and in the east end of Greater Houston/Harris County.
An intake counselor is onsite 24/7 to assess the victims’ needs and those of their children. Currently, the physical structure of Betty’s Haven includes only necessary home furnishings and an office for the project coordinator, but a large gathering room is in the plans to be constructed to serve as a dining area and a children's play area.
